Robert Kron, 46, is in his sixth season as an amateur scout for the Carolina Hurricanes, after joining the team in 2008. Originally from Brno in what is now the Czech Republic, Kron focuses on players in Europe for the Hurricanes' scouting staff.

Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round (88th overall) of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, Kron played 12 NHL seasons with Vancouver, Hartford, Carolina and Columbus between 1990 and 2002. A center, he totaled 144 goals, 194 assists (338 points) and 119 penalty minutes in 771 career regular-season NHL games, and five points (3g, 2a) in 16 career Stanley Cup playoff games. Kron was a member of the original Carolina Hurricanes team that arrived in North Carolina in 1997, and skated in 509 games for the franchise between 1992 and 2000, earning 108 goals and 139 assists (247 points).

Kron resides in Raleigh with his wife, Lenka. Their eldest son, Robert, Jr., has an undergraduate degree from Miami (OH) and a master's from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Their second son, Nick, currently attends the University of Miami (FL), and their daughter, Isabella, is a high school senior in Raleigh.
